So here is the problem. My bikes gas tank has an old liner (whitish in color) that keeps clogging my petcock and fuel filter. I have tried cleaning it with acetone, laquer thinner, etc. How do I clean it? I can't get it totally clean, and keep going through filters, and the hassle of cleaning my petcock.....

No, I was under the impression (from my chemistry background....I'm an engineer), that electrolosis worked great for rust, but not for chemicals.....

What sort of liner, some kind of plastic or chemical coating?
Are you sure it's not just dirt and deposits from fuel and water?
Pool acid and water makes a great tank cleaner that will take off all the dirt and rust but I doubt it would work on any sort of coating. You're only resort may be to scrape most of it off or put some loose steel balls in there to knock it loose when you shake the tank around and keep changing filters until it clears up.

I think it is some sort of tank liner. It is whitish (looks like toilet paper that has disolved.) I have cleaned out my tank with acetone (2 times), seafoam (2 times), muratic acid, and have had no luck. All of those had 1/2x1/2 square aluminum blocks (sharp corners to scrap more stuff off) added and shaken. In two weeks, I have gone through 8 fuel filters, and they are all clogged with the white gunk. I am sure it is not dirt or rust, or deposits.

Would a paint stripper take the coating off? How about cutting open the tank?

The tank was probably lined with Kreem by a previous owner, and it sounds like they did a not so hot job. You can use Methyl Ethyl Ketone to dissolve it. It will take several soaking/agitation applications over the course of several hours to get rid of it all. After its gone, wash the tank out with Phosphoric acid, and recoat it with POR15 tank liner per the directions. POR is far superior to Kreem in durability.
