Im getting tired of holding down the starter button, and whackin the starter relay to start my bike. The lugs are tottally worn on the inside and dont make good contact anymore. Time to replace it.

Pretty much any year yamaha will fit as long as its got that red and blue wire on it, and a plug at the end so I can plug it in. Even if it dont, I can make it work.

PM me and let me know what you got.

I just ended up getting one from a small engine shop...for a riding lawn mower. That was last year and it works perfect. Cheap too!!!

Whenever I start my bike I have to hit something located on the "passenger side" just to the left of the battery and it will start right up. Sometimes it will start without hitting it, but 85% of the time I have to hit the side of the seat real hard where it is located at.

The part I have to hit is the one my finger is pointing to. Is this the starter solenoid or starter relay? Are there any troubleshooting methods to see exactly what is wrong to possibly fix it before I spend cash on a new one? It's embarrassing having to hit my bike every time I want to start her.

See this comment and this comment for a method to test the solenoid. You can also do this to bypass a failed solenoid.

EDIT: Make sure the bike is not in gear when you do this.
