Hey everyone, I'm reassembling my carbs on my bike and running the cables to them. My choke cable is run to the bracket on carb #4 however when moving the choke the cable simply unwinds on the handlebar control.

Also the way it's mounted it really doesn't seem like it can do a lot.

If anyone has any pics of there and how they look I would greatly appreciate it. I need to understand the cable routing and why my choke cable simply doesn't seem to move anything.

I will post pics of what I'm talking about shortly. Thanks for any help you can give !

There is a shaft that runs across the top of the carbs. The enrichment plungers are moved by this shaft. The choke cable anchors at carb #4, I will post a picture looking at carb #4,

When you engage the choke using the handlebar control, the the enrichment shaft should move to the left.

If you place your thumb on this shaft where it terminates at carb #4, you should be able to push the shaft toward carb #1. When you let go, the shaft should spring back to its rest position.

Try pushing the enrichment shaft and post your results.

Thanks guys. I guess my question is more how the enrichment things sit around the plunger on shaft. Currently my setup matches your anchor. I need to adjust my cable position but the way I have the little things on the shaft they might be offset wrong. The shaft does freely move left. 20170608_001910.jpg nothing is tight yet so don't worry about the cable being pinched

Is that the same cable that you took off when you removed your carbs?

Yes sir. Pulling it snug into the holder will ensure it stays in the holder up on the handlebar and I should be set. I would love to see a pic if you can of how the floats on the rod sit around valve on the carb to make them effective

PS You guys are awesome !!!!

It is possible that you installed the enrichment rod backwards.

Did you disassemble the enrichment plungers and clean them?

I did not fully disassemble them as the carbs were done not long before I got the bike. It also ran great before I took them off.
Here is how the rod ordeal looks now. I don't know how you could assemble differently.

Did you place your thumb on the right side end of the rod and push? The rod should slide to the left and spring back to the right side after you let go. All four of the enrichment plungers should move and spring back when you let go.

Did you anchor the cable in its proper spot? In your picture you have over an inch of slack, There should be no black cable housing protruding beyond the cable anchor clamp.

As I stated above, the cable wasn't in its final mount point. With the cable attached at the proper mount point my rod cannot move. This is because my rods are stuck out and the plungers stuck it seems so the rod can do nothing.
I kept searching lastnight and found a set of carbs on EBay. From looking at them it appears my rods are stuck at full protrusion and do not move freely.
So it looks like I'll be tearing my carbs apart myself haha. Is there any main reason or what would cause the plungers to be stuck at full open??

Thanks for all your help as I wouldn't have got this far without it!

Did someone else clean/ rebuild your carbs prior to you reinstalling the rack?
You should really do them yourself; top to bottom. I confess those on the 1100's look strange to me.

Well as the old adage goes, if you want something done right you've got to do it yourself. 2 of the 4 plunger rods dont move, one is perfect and 1 is free but sticky.
In the church of clean here I come! Thanks for the help guys!

Well I got my choke screws all freed up and moving beautifully. However I'm guessing I should be replacing the below? 20170611_160422.jpg 20170611_160426.jpg 20170611_160953.jpg
I'm. Guessing no amount of repurposing means I should reuse these??

    Thanks again!

If there are no holes in the diaphragms, the rest looks like surface rust that should clean up. I am of the opinion that you should be fine reusing those. The outside of the slides look good, that is the critical part.

I may be wrong and hopefully someone with more knowledge will correct me so you do what is right to your carbs.
