I just ordered an ultrasonic cleaner to clean carbs with and my question to you great minds is what solution works best to clean carbs with? I've read many different types of solutions to use but was curious if anyone on here has used one and what they used?

Is the ultra-sonic tank also heated?

    Pine-Sol (the original blend).

But I prefer using Beyman's Carb Dip to using an ultrasonic system (just a prefrence, not a critique).

I've just used distilled water in mine. I used simple green the first time and it etched the aluminum in my first two carb bodies. I have heard some use simple green hd, which is supposedly safe for aluminum, but I haven't had the chance to try it myself.

I have heard the same about Simple Green. I also am a 'gallon of Berryman's' kinda guy. Basically the Ultra Sonic 'action' does the cleaning for you and distilled water is a good option. Perhaps a few drops of dish detergent to help break away any greasy kid stuff . . .

Where I used to work we would clean ceramic parts and D2 parts with a solution of almost pure industrial floor cleaner - only for a few minutes followed immediately with a rinse. . . . I would not be so aggressive with the carbs. Some others have used Ultra Sonics perhaps they will chime in.

I've read of people using, dish detergent, laundry soap, simple green, HF degreaser, distilled water and a host of other things. I'm thinking ill go with K-Moe's suggestion and try the pine-sol original and see how that does.

Careful using CLR on aluminum. It removes the aluminum oxide from the surface, and can remove enough of the surface that cleaances will change if left in for too long.

The ultrasonic cleaner came today so I gave it a workout on a set of carbs off an 83 Kawasaki KZ440LTD I'm doing for a young man. I do believe these carbs have been out of service for many years and a pretty good test for the cleaner. I used original pinesol deluded with water 50/50 mitxure and ran the carbs through a couple 30 min cycles. Rinsed them off and blew air through them. Look pretty good considering what they looked like. I'll give them a little bit more TLC but i'm impressed with the cleaner.
