Hi, on my '83 750 Maxim, when I turn on either the right or left signal lights, only the back lights come on and stay solid. The front lights do not come on. I did switch the light bulbs from the front to the rear to see if it was a bulb problem. All the bulbs work. The light in the console also lights up and stays solid.
What am I looking for to solve this??

    Look for good ground connections.
The chocolate and dark green wires are for the signals; black for ground. Dark Green for right side, chocolate for left.

    Wiring diagram for signals.

the 83 front directionals grounds through the blinker housing to frame only 1 wire from bulb I will check in the morning. if you look when the lens is off you will see a braided flat conductor.
the indicator bulb has no direct ground it grounds back through the rear opposite bulb having only the Dg and Ch wires hooked to it

you could check the relay cover pops off and clean the contacts

I confirmed there is only 1 wire in front directionals. the groung for blinkers isa braided cable frobm bulb holder to blinker body. the connection is made from the body clamping to directional mount then through the 2 fork bolts and another bolt in the front side of the holder.

you could take a jumper wire from frame to body to see if it makes your bulbs flash/come on.
if that works you will need to remove linker and clean the inside if the clamping part then the mount on the frame .clean and use dielectric grease (bulb grease).
you may also have to clean the blinker mount where the bolts hold it to the frame.

if bulbs do not come on with jumper wire then the braid strap could be corroded and/or broken..
it is odd that both do not work

if you have a meter hook it to battery then test fork tube for continuity to ground ,blinker mount to ground ,blinker body to ground, then bulb socket to ground.

could also be the bulb holder needs to be cleaned and greased

the wiring diagram from Haynes does show wired connections to ground for front directional bulbs

Thanks for the help. I did the jumper wire test and the blinkers worked. I pulled and cleaned the parts and now they work.:)
