I talked to the PO and got the speedo and tach but he didn't have the other indicator lights. I do have the plastic housing for them though. Since I have a 750 motor, how do I get them to work? Also the rubber seals on the gauge housing were really bad, literally crumbled when I touched it. There anyway I can seal them without buying replacements?

@XJ550H The PO put a 750 motor in but I believe it still has the 650 harness and everything else. Also the tach is mechanical. It has a slot in the back for a cable. Forgot to take a photo of that.

Ok thanks, I wasn't sure if I could make it work. I saw some stuff on converting them to electronic somehow. Any recommendations on what kind of tach I should get or just leave it off?

All you should need is a stock electronic tach to install in the housing and of course the wiring harness to hook it up. I may be wrong here but that's my initial thought

The only stock electronic tach that will fit/look right is from a "late" (red paint) XJ650RJC Canadian model (those had the YICS engines, so no mechanical tacho) or a Euroland XJ650 (I believe 1982-later) as those also had the YICS engines. Also, the XJ900N ("naked") 1985-86 model, but those only were available in the Oceania market (Australia, New Zealand, etc.).

I'm in the process of finishing up my build with one of the eBay/Amazon gauges. Check my build and see if you like it. I just need to configure the speedo sensor after I get her running.

It's a different look than stock if you're into that.

@chacal thanks for the info, not sure if I need a tach right at the moment. I have a few other things I want to do like turn signals and ss brake lines.

@Taylo105 I do love your build, but yours is a bit more fitting for that type of gauge. I love the stock look and think I might even put the OG handlebars back on. I also don't have the oil lights and stuff so if I could find a gauge set that has that built in then I'd be happy with that.
