I put axle grease on most seals ,if you have to pull what ever it is apart again most times the seal will be reusable.

on the float bowl gaskets, I wet them with a little 3-in-1 oil......

Valve cover gasket, a little RTV on certain spots of valve cover to hold gasket in place before bolting on.

Most other gaskets, thin coat of silicone grease works for me.....

As for gaskets, I went dry on every single one except the valve cover gasket which got a lightly brushed coating of spray tack to keep it attached to the cover before installing. No leaks yet (13 months/4k miles). If I ever need to remove something it will get a new gasket, not worried about reusing it. The only exception is the valve cover gasket, I expect that will last a few shim checks.

I also use the spray tack with valve cover gasket on the valve cover, but use a light film of silicon grease on the other side of the gasket on the first use.

I forgot to mention I wipe the cylinder head side with a little oil first. That goes for any rubber gasket or seal on the bike, a little oil before it goes on. Any paper gaskets etc. go on dry.

I guess all of them, I didnt know you had to treat different gaskets separately

Interesting to hear opinions on this one.
I would think too thick could create torque issues.
I KNOW that too thin (especially on a lift pump on an old tractor) means you get a "do-over".
