    Hey guys!

So I want to purchase myself a cheap alloy oil Cap for my xj550.

I want a cheap one as I intend to hack it up in order to fit a turbo oil drain into it. And I don't want to be damaging the OEM one.

There are no off the shelf/eBay alloy replacement ones that I'm aware of.

So does anyone know of any oil caps off other model bikes that will fit?
Then I can just search eBay for a cheapie oil Cap for that bike :)

Plans are for a blow through using the OEM carbs.
I'm no stranger to turbo applications and tuning.
I am however new to carburetors. But from the research I've done it should be possible.

XJ550H - those oil caps have a big tang running through the middle. I'm trying to find the alloy ones that're hollow in the middle.

Hacksaw; grinder; chisel - that tang will go away.

I'm not trying to flame you out here but what you're contemplating will present way more, WAY MORE challenges than fitting an oil line through the filler cap.
Why have you decided on the XJ550 as a candidate for turbocharging?
If it's simply because you have one now, this is not a good reason.
If you're on any kind of budget and you want to build a turbo motorcycle, find an intact XJ650LJ Turbo, get it running as it was intended then toy with the possibilities. Jeff here is running one with 18 psi boost, lots of things you can do.

If you're not on a budget, well...I recommend you buy either a Hayabusa, ZX12, ZX14 or even GSF1200 as there are readily available kits from the aftermarket. You then have a bike better capable of handling the extra horsepower and people with advice who've been there every step of the way.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to follow your thread through to the completed hot rod you envision, just trying to be pragmatic here.

As I have mentioned. I'm no stranger to forced induction.
The fuel pump, rising rate regulator, tank return lines, dynamic pressure to float bowls and intake/exhaust piping are all straight forward jobs.

I'm not trying to break any land speed records here. I just want something unique that I can roll up to a meet and people will want to talk about it.

If I wanted easy I'd just stick to all the off the shelf options that you have mentioned. But I want to be different.

I do appreciate the warning though. I understand there are a lot of people who perhaps don't fully understand the complexities of what I'm trying to do.

Ok Gus, you do sound like you know what you're getting into. Please start a proper build thread in the modifications section. This will be of great interest to many here.
Have a search for Skylark's Shadow Warrior project, he's another lister who has crafted a Turbo from scratch.
