Mine has only 18,000 kilometres on it. I've owned it a month. No idea as to the history. I'm taking it in tomorrow for a carb sync and adjust. What is the time involved to just check intake and exhaust clearances?
And how much more to shim if required per cylinder? Just looking for rough approximations.

Probably a couple of hours to check and probably 2-3 more to adjust plus 15$ a shim

So could be upwards of 5-6 hrs. Gotta love the 5 valves per cylinder.

according to FSM valves are scheduled to be checked every 42000 km, so you are well under that window.

you should check the clearances before sync and adjustment for the fullest benefit of the sync and adjustment.

but you are well under the window to check valves

But when do they require the first adjustment? With that low mileage was the initial check done ?

    * says have a dealership do it

so other than for peace of mind he has a while to go before he needs to do it ,but I would do it now before sync but that is just me.
    he would benifit from sync

if you have the dealership/shop do valve check will cost a bit of cash just to check valves. to adjust them for you, you will need to bring some silicon grease with you.
    adjustment requires cam removal .
