almost have my 550 Bobber project done but I'm having issues with my turn signals. I can get them to illuminate but won't flash. I bought a new flasher unit from Advanced Auto that was recommended on here but now they won't illuminate. Took a 12v tester to them and the light barely illuminates. It's almost like it's not powerful enough to power all 4 lights.

Any help? Anyone else have this issue?

    led lights? all 4 lights?
should be lighting 2 lights only could be you have the lights hooked to wrong connectors in headlight bucket. dark green and black right side, chocklet and black on left side

is your flasher pluged into the proper wires on the connector brown and brown/white
brown is supply brown/white is load

have you cleaned the left control and checked to see if the 3 wires are still soldered to the little slide?

Left control is all new. Everything is plugged in correctly. With the old flasher on it's bright but won't flash. With the new one on it won't come on at all. Would adding a fuse in line on the one wire help? Something on the packaging mentioned adding an inline fuse on it? Not sure if thats the course to take or not.

You don't need to add a fuse. Post a link to the flasher that you bought. If it is a 3 terminal flasher you will need to add a ground wire and remove the wire that goes to the auto cancel unit.

This is the flasher that made it dim. I did buy a three prong flasher as well and got no light what so ever. Is that because of the lack of ground?

Having trouble finding a link to them. Bought them a few years ago. They are a regular bulb, no led

Likely, but we would also need a link for that one to get the specifics as there are different versions with 3 terminals.

This looks like it should work, although it is way overrated powering 1 to 10 bulbs with a 20amp/240 watt capacity. And, since the specification are so poor (typical) it is hard to make an educated call on what the minimum current requirement might be. I only found one other post where a member said it worked, and no details were given as to what wattage bulbs were being used.

Was this on the "L" terminal? The EL12 appears to be very similar to the OEM flasher (electro-mechanical) and consequently would be load dependent. Normally, the B to L or in this case X to L should be normally closed. I would suggest double checking the hookup - Br to X, and BrW to L. If you measure 12V on the Br and much less on BrW then it may just be a defective unit.

Thermal flashers are also load dependent. The best option is to choose a non load dependent flasher that is capable of driving the intended load.

Do you have a recommendation for which kind of flasher? Do you use an aftermarket one? Or are you still using OEM? Getting this indepth with electrical is a bit over my head haha

there are a few adjustable rate flashers which can be used for led and filiment bulbs mentioned in threads on this site available at most autoparts stores.
key is 2 prong which mate the existing connector in relationship to supply and load otherwise you get some male and female quick disconnects to make an adaptop for the connector and relay. or cut off the connector and use quick disconnects.
what kind of bulbs do your lights have? 1156 style or the smaller ones?

I think you would be best suited to the electronic style that support leds and filiment bulbs
as shown in superbright ling also available at local stores

it is electro mechanical like the one you purchased but the tabs are proper for connector.

you want to buy an electronic flasher .
have you id'ed the bulbs you are using yet
