what was the clearance on that shim? intake or exhaust?
it is typical for valves to get tighter requiring thinner shims not thicker ones. just asking.

I couldn't get any shims from the Yamaha dealers in my area but the BMW shop literally had buckets of them.

    Except you don't need "1/2 sizes" and "1/4 sizes". In-spec is in-spec.

I use them to even out the clearances I like to keep them all close as possible to the same clearance as well as keeping them all as "loose" as I can.
in my opinion because of the way the spec is stated I belive Yamaha was trying for intake at 0.15 mm and exhaust at 0.20 mm as Ideal.

but i do agree spec is spec. in spec go ride
