Does anyone know of a way to restore the original Yamaha and Seca 550 Emblems to their new polished luster? On my 550 restoration project they are not in good shape. I have found paint that matches the color of the original metallic fronts but it doesn't have the original metallic polish. Thanks!

It's best to buy new ones while you still can and focus on restoring the cash from your bank account.

So, where would a guy buy "new" ones? Not eBay stuff but actual new ones.

Len from xj3ever has the SEca ones OEM. No left side but you can use a right side on the left although it won;t lay perfectly. The tank badges pop up from time to time. Len has some aftermarket ones.

The best method that I've seen so far---

Go to a hobby/craft store and get the gold leaf foil.
Make sure your emblem is very clean and dry.
Re-coat the letters with the gold foil.
Plan your letters carefully so that any seams are matched well.
Carefully paint new black between the letters.

Thanks, I think I'll try the gold leaf method. That should look great!

I have gotten very good result with the Spray on chrome kit.....it's the same stuff that Leno had exhibited on his show several years back. Once you get the "chrome parts done, the rest is an easy paint match!

This paint below isn't bad but I like the kit I bought.....
