NO SPARK XJ650 MAXIM

XJ650 Maxim cannot get any spark have tried jumping it off the starter got no neutral light a red oil light comes on I've changed and check the oil if it helps this bike has sat for many years but has just been overhauled

 

red light coming on is a test of the bulb. start by doing a battery voltage drop test if battery goes below 10 volts when starter is thumbed bike will not start.
charge battery or get a new one.
next ohm out entire ignition system. ignition coils, plug caps, pickup coils. trim back spark plug wires 1/4 inch when caps are off.
if neutral light does not come find out why. you have a clutch safety switch and neutral light is a safety switch both need to work or be bypassed

check fuses clean kill switch and starter button see if neutral bulb works then test neutral switch.
does bike turn over with starter button? also pull in clutch when trying this wil overide neutral switch unless clutch safety switch is bad

And carbs have been jaded pod filters exhaust

 

That won't work, most pod filters I have seen go on the intake...

 

My pods are on the intake side of my carburetor they are air filters AKA pod air filters

 

You might have read what I wrote wrong it meant to say my carburetors have been jet it out pod air filters installed on the carburetors in exhaust was done AKA stock exhaust completely gutted

 

sorry - I must have misunderstood your sentence structure in the previous post.... it seemed to infer that the pods were exhaust.

 

and the exhaust was done I use talk text alot so kind of texts what it wants to

 

I'm really bad at that I need to start reading before I hit send

 

Otto correct dozen all ways work EE there.

 

If you have a weak battery , this can cause no spark .( even a new battery can have a bad cell)
