Has anyone ever found an electroplating service at afordable rates? I have a vendor locally but they cater to the high end of the spectrum, specializing in antique auto parts. I was there 20 years ago and he showed me a grill they were restoring, stressing a level of perfection which far surpasses anything Yamaha ever put their name on. His pricing could never be a serious consideration restoring an XJ. I worked at an electroplating shop part time during high school making office furniture. I wish I had after hours access there today.

yes seems ridiculous, maybe there's possibility for a small business venture here. Well maybe not here as Ontario now has the most expensive electricity in NA.
Luckily I've collected most of the brite work to convert the appearance of my LJ to RJ. Still looking for some good grab rails.

In Omaha, Nebraska, there is a plating service that did all 4 of my down pipes for about $300.00.
Is that better or worse than what you are getting?

They would be looking for that for each.

I'm in the antique auto restoration business... I use Speed Sport Chrome in Houston, Texas. for standard chromework. They do great if you send nice cores. Our bikes don't have much chromed "pot-metal"... and repair/rechroming of steel and aluminum is a piece of cake. Best prices for good work I can find. There are "cheaper" out there...but I've never been happy with them. The best thing is they have a fast turn-around. No more waiting 6-months.

Thanks for the info Baker. I have time so the few remaining pieces will turn up. There will come a time when good used parts dry up and replating will be the only option.
