Thanks. Hopefully I can find a fender like I want for the front. It's not a pretty sight when I run over road kill and see guts go flying straight up.

That bike is sweet you have there I would like to do something like that to my '85 XJ700. It looks like the front wheel comes out alittle farther than mine does, what did you have to do to do that? Also I put some 11" rear shocks on my bike instead of the factory 12 1/2" but it would bottom out on me when hitting a bump or even around corners so if anyone has any ideas on how to lower the rear of the bike I would definately be interested in hearing it.

The front is off of a TX750 and it has struts intsead of shocks. After I put the struts on at the hight that I wanted I cut just behind the neck and lowered it down until the shaft was straight then welded the neck back. Even though it's now a ridgid it still rides very fomfortable and handles good. However you have to make turns just a little wider than normal.

Color me impressed (and I'm not a chopper fan) Jeff! NICE work. Bike like that could convince me that there is something to this whole chopper craze.

    That's real nice looking Jeff.
Could you get a few more close up shots of the neck?

    What was it originally?

Sure Stormin that is if I don't get a brain fart and forget. But I'll try to get some tomorrow and post them. It was/is a 1980 XJ650 Maxim.

How does the bike handle with that rake? I want to do the same to mine but I heard that doing so can be dangerous.

I ride it to work and I ride it thru the Georgia (USA)mountains on the highway at 75MPH and have never had a problem. Its only dangerus if you try to take a corner too fast and if you do then your asking for trouble no matter what bike your on. It dosn't fit in the back of my truck any more so that about the only problem I have with it but then thats why I built a trailor just for it.

    lol

alright, I'll defiantly consider doing it. I just finished installing some screaming eagles, when and made custom exhaust pipes with some hard work and my welder, and ran both of them down the right side. Now I just have to fix my seat area, add a rake and paint job, then it should be done (should be, until I find something else to add/modify/fix lol)

Looks good Jeff! Now you got me looking for a TX750 front end!! Mine looks similar to yours except for the rear fender - I just got done putting a bobtail fender on mine (I always liked the looks of the flip-up look in the back)
You did a good job on that bike and should be proud of your work! >PD<
