Hey all, Just wondering if anyone has any tips on removing the left-hand side 27mm Pivot Shaft Bolt from the swingarm (The side with the lock washer). I tried to get it to budge, but couldn't with an 18" socket wrench. Is there a trick to this, is it a left hand threaded bolt, idk? Thanks!

Did you remove the flat locking-tab washer? Regular counter-clockwise thread, it's probably just seized-----soak it with kroil, or ATF/acetone, or your favorite rust-busting penetrating concoction. I use a socket on the ratchet or a breaker bar as needed.....and persuade it with a hammer on the handle if necessary

I bent the tab back as the Haynes said, but if it comes off completely, I’m at a complete loss on how it’d be possible. It’s kind of a weird thing that just makes things difficult. You can’t get a socket in terribly deep because of it and im worried I’m gonna round the thing off.

Just out of curiousity, I hit it with a torque wrench and it clicked maxed out, so something is up. I figure I’m doing something wrong.

I’m thinking regular box wrench, socket side with the outward bend and slipping ye olde pipe over it. Just wanna make sure I’m not going to completely cross over in “you’re screwed” territory first.

You've bent the tab out like you should. Put your socket over it, put your breaker bar on it, start smacking it with a hammer

you could use the weight of the bike by using a breaker bar and a small floor jack bring it up a little then sit on bike.

I just broke my socket wrench on this with a huge pipe on it. Can’t use the weight of the bike at this point. Am I missing something?

I think he was refering to his ratchet and not the socket. Rachet teeth break easy when you put a pipe on them
but yes I do use impact sockets as my standard socket unless they are to thick to fit where I need it to work

Ok, you're missing a better socket AND a better breaker bar

Got it! I had a 27mm impact socket and got a breaker bar. Had a buddy put his weight on the head of it over the nut while I pulled. Flexed the breaker bar, still didn’t budge. Ended up slipping a pipe over that, put all my weight in it and the nut broke finally, crying on the way out. Holy hell, man. That was intense.

Get you a impact gun to go with that socket.
