Well last night I was sitting on "the throan" looking through the one of the service manuals that cam with my newly purchased Maxim and found the Warranty booklet... I thought (and so did the prvious owner, who only had the bike for a couple of months) that I had an 82 XJ650 turns out it's an 81 XJ650H-S. What is and H-S? Anyway to find out what differences this model has? What does the "H-S" mean if anything?

'H' indicates the model year. 'J' would be an 82. As for the 'S', I have no idea.

I'll have to try and find some info on the"s" Never seen it before on the forum or the internet searches... Probably nothing, sales tactic or something I would guess.

More information than we needed in the original Post.

I know you weren't profane. But, it does seem to me that you might have tempered that a bit by just telling us you were reading the Manual.

Where you were reading it should not have been included. It's not of interest.

You contributed nothing to this thread so your response in just as irrelevant as my useless information... Not staring a flaming contest here but let's have a sense of humor. I must have missed the part in the guidlines of posting that joking wasnt allowed on this forum. Way to give a new comer a sense of fellowship! I'll be sure to pass it on.

Heck, I thought "throne" in this instance meant you were sitting on your bike. What better place to read the manual?

Shows you were my mind is at. ;)

But hey, a motorcycle seat is the real "throne", isn't it? :D

lol, well yeah maybe I should have specified Porcelain? I would agree that the seat of the bike is the real throne.

    Come-on, now.
Nobody refers to their bike as a throne.
We all know better than that!

I'm just saying that it could have been handled in a different manner.
    I didn't come-down hard.

I just mentioned that it was ... just-a-little too vivid an image to be used in a very public "setting".

Let's keep the standards high and refrain from bringing the whole party in the restroom with you.

The Whistle was for "Off sides" ... nobody got "Throne" out of the game!
