I've got a '82 Seca xj650 with some terrible pipes. Looking for options, I prefer stock but I know how hard they are to find. Options for 4-2 or 4-1 pipes? Toying with the idea of patching them (buying a cheap TIG will cost me about the same as going to a shop and buying new pipes in town), is it possible?? I don't know, might TIG it anyway for the fun of it. 20180118_164329.jpg 20180118_164341.jpg 20180118_164401.jpg

Welding that would require stripping the chrome off, and be a waste of good filler rod.

MAC, or Marving. Both make good systems, with Marving having slightly better reviews overall.

The collector looks pretty good, so you could just do mufflers.

If you want to do only the mufflers, some have used HD Sportster mufflers as slip ons.

ive got a 750 Seca and had the same problem. The collector is solid but pipes were bad so I got some cheap Harley slip ons for $20 and had to adjust the angle with some flexible exhaust pipe and hand make a bracket to bolt up to the original muffler holes they work really good.

I hoped to try some stock Seca650 Turbo try-Y pipes for better scavenging, with a flanged muffler build; but I learned the tube ID is smaller. :(

The turbo only has one real muffler as well. Even if you got the system to mate up, you'd not have a better system in terms of scavenging.

And a big waste of time. With the amount of rust that you CAN see, remember there's gonna be twice as much that you CANT see. You don't have any good metal there to weld to in the first place!!
