Since getting married and having kids I haven't gotten to pursue spending all my income on chasing down every great song I hear.

I was just introduced to Pandora.com and I love it enought to mention it to others. It's easy to sign up and use (or not sign up and use). I just throw in an artists name I love and they play their music and others similiar to it. You can also vote on which ones you like or hate, skip some you don't like and even recomend they remove it from the channel you create. Great stuff.

They haven't gotten classical music availabe yet I don't think, but just about everthing else I have been looking for.

    Way Cool!
People around this site really listen to music???? I thought the XJ and the XJ alone are what it takes to live, breath, think and sleep. God forbid we have culture.

Music to me is THE essential in life, and no, that obnoxious sound that shows no change in pitch and splits my brain cells at 80 mph coming from those damn HDs as well as others, is not music. Sorry to burst some bubbles.

It would be interesting to find out what other XJ riders listen to. Music can say alot about what we have in common as well as our distinct differences.

So whats in your your CD deck, or turn table/tape deck/MP3 player/mini disc/ect....????

I'm a prog metal fan but listen to alot of different stuff. I draw the line at country and rap. Don't get it, never will.

Presently I have "Heaven and Hell" in the DVD player, you just gotta love Dio, he is the man.

I just checked my MP3 player, and the list is:
    Mozart: Requiem
Creedence Clearwater Revival: 25th Anniversary Album
    Rolling Stones: Beggars' Banquet
    Verdi: Rigoletto
    Songs of the Lincoln Brigade
    Nabucco: Slaves' Chorus
    Kate and Anna McGarrigle favourites
Marian Anderson "Softly Awakes My Heart"

I think that qualifies me for an award for musical schizophrenia!

I like Jazz, and some classic rock. I have a cd player in the car, but I don't have an MP3. There is an old AM/FM/Cassette stereo in my fairing, but I never listen to it. I just ride to the music of my I4 six fiddy, through the stock pipes.

You should be in here when I'm cleaning somebody's carbs and I got The Little River Band cranked-up; singing harmony with Graham on all the greats.

Even my wife and kids know the lyrics.

I have the 20th Anniversary Double CD Set autographed by everybody in the Band!

"Then you really might know what its like, then ya really might know what its like... to sing the blues..."

    or maybe Gangsters Paradise

Beastie Boys!!! almost like rap, and catchy and funny as heck!

And some good ole hank aint bad, either is johnny cash!

My favorite is either the hard core rock, or classical though. Go figure, I'm bi-polar lmao!!!

I jumped on this thread asking whats in your player then realized I did throw any names out of my own, so, here's my list:

Dream Theater, Rush, Syphony X, Iron Maiden, Queens Ryche, Dio, Withing Temptation, Lacuna Coil, trivium, fates Warning, East Village Opera Company, Judas Priest, Pink Floyd, Shadow Gallery, Blue Oyster Cult, Aryon, and the goes on and on. I'm sort of a music junky. If I don't get my fix I get a mind cramp that won't go away.

Since joining Pandora, I have set up several different stations based on artists that I really appreciate. As I have been listening when at work or when putting the kids to bed, I have skipped anything really upbeat that would get me up and looking foolish at work, or that would keep the kids from drifting off.

Eva Cassidy, Allison Krauss, Banjo Bach (was looking for JS Bach, but hey Bach on a Banjo) Ben Folds Five, Brian Setzer (woo stray cats), Danny Wright, Diana Krall, Eric Johnson, Indigo Girls, Miles Davis, Pink Martini, Toots Thielmans, Barenaked Ladies, Sting and U2.

About 2 gig's worth in my player, which usually accompanies me on longer rides. Everything from 80's punk-alt-hardcore (Minutemen, Minor Threat, etc) to 60's funk & soul (Meters, JB's, etc). I save the quiet & relaxing stuff for home, lol.
With all the file sharing sites available, I dont think I've bought a cd in years.

Well, as for the not buying a CD in years... Not to sound judgemental or anything of the sort, more my personal preference... I could do the same thing. But.... Whenever I find a good album or band that I like I go to the store and buy it. I keep the original at home and burn copies for my car cd player (tears cd's up over time). The only reason that I buy them is not because I have to, with bearshare, limewire ect..., but because I enjoy the music that much that it is worth the few dollars to pay my entertainers for it. Just like how I have and will continue to donate to this site. It has helped me and would do so either with me contributing or not, but I like to pay my way, or at least help those who enjoy helping others.
