My last dog was Simmy, she was a good old boy, passed away in her sleep at 14. Towed my bicycle just the previous day.
The guy to the left is Loki - the trickster god, he came with that name and should have been enough forewarning.

 

My beagle/springer mix breed, named Oreo, was my closest companion. She passed away last July just after her 15th birthday. She was active right up until that day. The attached picture was at 14 years. Enjoy your companion.

 

My buddy named his cat Steve. How about that one? LOL

My wife often says she would pick our pets over me. Having them leave us after all the love that is shared is always heart breaking. Sometimes I reflect with joy and sometimes with immense sadness.

I am pretty sure by nature all cats are assholes!
Sure they will purr and rub against your leg, next thing you know they are pushing glasses off the coffee table, jumping on your throat early in the morning cause they want breakfast, terrorizing the dog (that is 6 times larger) and basically having a general disdain for humans.

 

I have an inherited beagle named Alex the Seal. Why, you may ask?

Because he was originally named Alexander (the Great), but that was too long, so he became Alex, and I had a acquaintance from an Eastern European nation who for years listened the popular song by the "Go-Go's" (female rock band) called "Our Lips Are Sealed" and always heard it as/ thought that the chorus line was "Alex The Seal".

The singers kind of mumble thru the chorus line, and it is four women singing over each other, and the recording mix was kinda 90's pop-crappy, so I can see how he came to that conclusion........"Ahhlex the Seal".
