Should I buy this 1983 XJ 750 Maxim ?

    Hi Guys, I am new to this forum and I have a few questions.
    I am interested in buying a 1983 xj 750 maxim with 44000kms. I believe I can purchase it for $1000.00. It seems to be in good shape and runs well. It there anyone that can tell me what i should inspect and if it's a good price. Thank you.

    Well for $1,000 you don't have much to lose. Does it run ? wierd engine noises.? make the deal conditional on an inspection by a dealer or licenced motorcycle mechanic. If the seller has nothing to hide they will agree.
    Hope it's a good bike for you.

    I paid $700 for mine a few months ago. It was in desperate need of a brake job, but it ran pretty good and had decent tires, so I thought it was a bargain. Oh and mine had 35,000 miles (about 55,000 kms). I've put about $300 in mine and unless you are buying it from someone on this site who has lovingly cared for it, I would expect to spend a few hundred fixing it the way you want it.
