XJ550 Front Brake Piston Removal

    Is there a different solution for removing a caliper piston if you don’t have access to compressed air?

    Messy - but it does work. You can also buy special removal pliers that grip the inside of the piston - never tried them though.

    You could just pump it out using the fluid that's in the reservoir. If it's free from the brake hose just connect and bleed it up to pump it out also.

    I bought a set of piston removal pliers and found them to be more or less useless. Grease gun method worked really well for me.
