    This isn't ground breaking info...
So about a month ago, as I was preparing a shopping list to get my bikes ready for the upcoming riding season I decided to make a change to switch the motor oil weight from 20w-50 to 20w-40.
On Amazon, I found a 4 liter jug of 20w-40 4 stroke oil for just under $40.00 and decided to give it a try. The catch was that it was being shipped from Germany and would take 3-4 weeks shipping time. No big deal, I'm patient. I ordered it and forgot about it until it showed up last Thursday.
I did the oil and filter change then rode it to do an errand 40 miles away. I was pleased at how the bike responded especially with the shifting characteristics and the feel of the clutch. There was a noticeable difference or an improvement in my opinion.
If you normally run 20w-50 because that's what convenient give the 20w-40 or 15w-40 Rotella stuff a try. The 20w-40 is available but you have to wait for the shipping. Since ordering I have found that it is available in parts of Canada as well. Do a search and check it out, its a worthy change. Heres the stuff I found on Amazon!:

image.jpg image.jpg We have a decent selection of synthetic and semi synthetic oils out here
Motul and also Torco that I use in most of my bikes and they are made for wet clutch engines. They carry the JASO rating

In Ireland I've used 10w 40 in my xj before ran like a dream. No burning oil and lovely and smooth. You found the 15w a little heavy for it and didn't seem to cool as well as the lighter stuff. Also the 10w 40 left a lovely crisp note from the engine when running on warm up too just the faintest of shim click untill up to temp.

I like Motomaster Greengunk 10W-40 because there was a chick in a mini-skirt walking by while I noticed it on sale.
Lately I've switched to Owlslick Semi-Shit because it comes in a purple container, that mini-skirt I recall was purple.

Any reason is better than no reason at all.

    I second that.
A completely tastless and inappropriate comment regarding this mundane thread topic that amuses me because I know its wrong.

You'd probably like "Royal Purple " brand. Pretty purple bottle and a price to match the value of the Royal jewels.
