Ive got an 82 xj650 thats giving me fits. I picked up a battery for it a while back fried something. The polarity was reversed or marked wrong on the battery and did something to my electrical system. As far as i can tell the wiring itself is fine. Everything ohms out nicely with good continuity.

I already changed out the glass fuses for atc style long before this issue.

Ive since replaced the stator the rectifier the cdi/ignitor and the coils. My center stand switch was also bypassed long ago.

Still no spark and its driving me batty. Is ot possible the plugs themselves are fried? Is there a relay that might have taken a crap? Bike cranks over fine all lights and switches work as well. Can anyone point me in a direction here?

Was the center stand safety bypassed when bike tan prior to the battery incident or as part of recent troubleshooting?

You may have fried your diode pack in the head light bucket. Sorry to say it but anytime you start bypassing things it can cause other issues . Just a thought did you replace start solenoid if you hooked up battery backwards you could have fired that . Also possible coils are toast but doubt it . Just my thoughts :D

Where did you get the new (used) ignitor? Mine had corrosion on the ignitor contacts and on the corresponding connector contacts. Cleaning them both with fine sandpaper fixed my no spark situation
