    I'm sad it's so far away! I'd probably not think twice.. of course "striking distance" for me is also "striking distance" for hogfiddles!

    I did not. I still have a Virago project sitting in the garage, and value my marriage

    "Made only one year in 1983 and was the fastest production bike in the world at the time"

    I guess if you ignore the CB1100F, GPZ1100, GS1100, Laverda 1200, Ducati 900SS and CX650 Turbo you might make that claim LOL.

    Indeed.

    Careful... Someone makes that claim, they better be on a GPz900R. If you're not, you'll end up on the hi-way to the danger zone.

    If I wasn’t a pain in the butt to import I’d be on it in a flash

    @Toomanybikes
    I saw that ad and was considering it. The import doesn't look too bad because it would be in the excempt category. It would just be a matter of paying the duty and import fee which would add about $400 CAD to the price. You would probably have to spend a couple hours at the border waiting for the paperwork. The trick for me would be trailering it home since I dont have a trailer.

    Have you imported a bike before? What is the biggest roadblock?

    Would fixing the starter require splitting the case?

    If the seller is correct and the gears in the starter are the problem, then no. The thing is that I have never known those gears to fail.
    Most likely he's hearing the starter clutch slip, which does sound somewhat like stripped gear teeth. It could be that the wrong oil in the bike, but I'd be negotationg price based on the case split being necessary.

    Looks funny without the correct stripes, and without the grab bar.

    I'd be interested in the serial# to see if it's on the registry already

    900R was in production in late 83, not sure if they were available for sale until early '84 though!!

    I'm not 100% sure even a Guzzi Le Mans 1000 could pass the XJ9.....in a straight line, I know my 850 Le Mans couldn't, although I could still ride around them, in corners!!! ( and most other big Jap bikes, of the time!!)

    The 900 R was produced for quite a few years. However it was only available in the USA for a few months in early to mid 1983. Not very many of them came here to the states. I can tell you more about them at the carb clinic
