My wife and daughters have accepted my request for a Back-Off Brake Modulator for my unwrapping Christmas morning.

I selected the "Tri-Star" Model. Wires into the Left and Right Turn Signals and utilizes them as additional warning when the Brakes are applied.

This thing comes with a "Dual Load" device.

    Does anyone run this device?
Did you need the Dual Load attachment device?
    Does it work as advertised?

I've been very happy with the "Back-Off" module.

Looks like you'll only have to use the equalizer if the signals don't flash. LEDs here you come.

Of course you need to replace the amber lenses with red to be legal.

I don't see from the wiring diagram where the running light function comes from. Only thing I can think is that the input power needs to be switched and the running lights come on when the module is powered up.

I don't mean to be ignorant, but how is this different than a trailer light converter you'd use on many Japanese rigs that have seperate turn signals and brake lights? In other words, why couldn't you just use one of those? Like this Hoppy Part Number 48845

I see them online at Amazon.com for around $10.00.

It flashes the Brake Light a few times and then comes-on steady. The circuit also over-rides the gizmo if you decide to make a turn and allows the Signal Light to flash.

You can program the flash rate from 2 to 5 before the brake light comes on steady and stays on.

Santa is bringing it to me for milk and cookies and I wanted one all Summer.

Never look a gift horse in the mouth.
A bird in the hand is worth-it or something-like-that.
    Bike brake light coolness.

Gotcha! I didn't see the programmable-blinky-brake-light feature. Now I see the benefit.

I haven't put a "back-off" on my Maxim yet but I do run one on my Hayabusa.
I didn't get the "tri-Star" model. I got the "Back-off XP" which will work for LEDs if I decide to change.
I Set it for blink 4 times then stay steady. Ran it all season. So far so good.
I've had people follow me home and they say it's very attention grabbing brake light.

That's what I wanted to hear ... attention grabbing. I imagine hooking it up to the signals is going to be a big step toward not getting rear-ended~!

Rick, since I installed my Back Off people often change lanes to to get out from behind me at a traffic light. I suspect they think it's a hazard flasher.

Nothing like making them think they might get stuck in traffic for 5 seconds to make them pay attention :!:

BTW, I mounted an extra brake light on the sissy bar. That one has the flasher, the stock light I left steady.

    Holy Smokes.

Did you just see the 200 Watt Bulb just materialize and turn-on right above my bald-spot!

That sissy-bar "High-level" light sounds like a GREAT Idea!

That's what I'm going for. High-Viz and attention-getting. I'm sick of seeing GMC spelled backward in my rear-views.

Just something that will get some room between my rear and the front of the tailgater ... please!

    Incandescent or LED?

I have a fairly low bar, but I figure 2 lights is better than one and an extra 8 inches never hurts either.

    I'm doing it.
Right now it's a clean sheet of paper ... but, by the time it rolls-out for next season ... the lighting could become part of the sissy if I can figure-out the drilling pattern and the wiring issue.

I have the Backoff on my X and it is very effective, but I have led Hyperlights on the FJR and these are in a different league.

The hyperlights are extremely bright and demand attention. The dual function version really makes you stand out.

I orfered the LED's off eBay. I'll have the regular Brake Light and LED's in Red on the back of the Grab Bar.

I think I'll wind-up with exactly what I'm going for. A BIG attention grabbing brake and slow-down signal that will keep tailgaters off my rear end and make it safer riding on the highway.
