I have had good success rebuilding TCI modules for the air-cooled 650 and 750 models for several people who don't want to tackle it themselves. For the do-it-yourselfers, I've documented the process, expanding on Dave Jackson's original XJCD article: http://xjcd.org/TCI_repair

I am interested in a) acquiring some more that I can repair and b) trying my hand at some other models, such as the 900 or the MaximX.

If anyone has a dead or flaky TCI they'd care to donate, I'll pay for the shipping. Contact dwayne at xjcd dot org.

Cool service. Ever thought about doing a how-to write-up?

Ummm, I'm not soliciting business; I have always shared the knowledge and provided the link to the how-to in my post. But here it is again:

Note that the article was originally written by Dave Jackson, with additions by me. There is also a companion article, discussing my search for suitable replacement transistors here:

Hi Dwayne, nice to see you again. I didn't realize you were doing this! I might have some to send your way.

Hi Dave. As one host to another, it's always handy to have a couple of known-good TCIs at a Carb Clinic! ;-)

Yeah, and I have a habit of hanging onto them even if they are dead---just in case 'Robert' ever shows up again......but if you do them, I'll dig them out if I can find where i stuffed them
