I was just wondering what type of forks I can use to completley replace the stock air assisted forks that come on the bike.

Most any you care to take the ime to fit. Real question is Why?
Are you after.. Better shocking? the ability to use Current model braking Setups? Use different wheels?
    Lotsa reasons possible.
Better, surprisingly good actually, shock perf can be had buy buying/ inserting YSSusa.com PD valves @ $135 If that's what yer wanting.

Best bet is a set of forks/lower tubes from an 82-3 XJ750 MAXIM model, as it will allow you to use the dual front disc brakes that came on those models. Pretty much a bolt-on swap, as long as you get a COMPLETE system off a donor bike. Still has the "air" forks system, but that's not bad if it's working correctly.

I was kind of wanting to stay away from the air assist, as it seems like a huge pain in the arse! it also seems that alot of the seals and such are discontinued.

Actually, I think that there are very few extra parts involved in the "air" part of the forks.....the top cap bolt has a threaded center hole (as opposed to being solid), as that allows the air valve to be threaded into it, and then there's a little o-ring under that valve.....and I think that's it!

Some models also "tied" the left and right fork air system components together via an air hose, and that system required and extra air "collar" on each fork, but again, that's it......the air system is pretty simple (the o-rings need replacing when you rebuild your forks, but they're cheap) and every once in a great while the air valve will die, but the "replacable" parts are still available and pretty cheap.

Of course, the whole concept of the air system was not all that great (except on paper).....it provides a little bit of benefit, but not much.

It's a lot simpler than the anti-dive system used on the Seca models, that used brake fluid pressure......those forks are a nightmare!

I really want to go to a dual front disk configuration... If I can find a set of forks to accept a cool wheel that looks decent with the rear stocker I migh be willing to try somthing other than a set of XJ forks...

V easy Just grind out the weld on the Tees' Centre tube and reweld it into the one of the Donor Tee. Done all the time most any Moto shop can do this if skeptical of yr own skills. Some Forks just bolt right on with NO mods > I 'think' GXsr's do just that... research the subject some.

Any idea what year GsxR forks will just bolt on? That would be incredible!
