    Howdy all,

Two months ago I acted on a long-dormant urge and bought myself a 1985 Yamaha Maxim XJ700N, my first bike ever, and, in fact, my first-ever motorized vehicle. I've got zilch in terms of mechanical experience, so I figure I'll be posting a lot of questions here. I can't believe this site-- I've been lurking around for a few weeks and it seems like there's a great community here with a lot of knowledgeable and friendly folks. No pictures yet but I'll see if I can get some the next time it's sunny-- which might be a long time from now in my rainy corner of the States.

Just wanted to say hello and maybe lure some folks over to the XJ Chat forum to my question about the new bike's one problem: a high idle. If anyone decides to wander over to the post (Maxim 700N high idle) and weigh in, I'd love it.

Lookin' forward to being a part of XJBikes.

    -PJ

Welcome to the club - yours is quite the special bike - you're gonna love it.
Let us know where you are located - you might be surprised how many others are in your area!

Oh - and if you haven't seen it yet, you'll also want to bookmark Hap's site:
    Maximum Maxim X

It's mostly for the liquid cooled X's - but you'll find a bunch of good info there for your bike as well.

Thanks for the tip, Altus. I'm from Portland, Oregon. If any other Maxim owners live in Portland, I'd love to hear from you.

    Oh yeah,

I should also probably get the XJ CD that everyone talks about. How do I do that?
