    Alright gentleman and ladies,

What is the general thinking........colortune then sync, or sync then colortune?....and both at fully warmed up or not?

colortune then sync then check color tune if you readjust re sync.

fully warmed up. a few fans will help keep bike cool if the process gets long

I would synch first, colortune second adjusting mixture should not change synch. .

Man I am mad! My I went through this seca bolt by bolt 2 summers ago, and it was running perfect.....it was running perfect 2 hours ago! So I decide to buy a color tune (had tuned by ear before) and a carb pro (always used the cheap 4 gauge dial set from amazon).....get my new toys out today to play, and I am dead level across the sticks on the carb pro, and the pretty bunsen blue on the color tune, but this son of a gun will not idle down below 2000-1700!!!!!! That is as low as i can get it now! I have the idle adjustment all but backed out all the way! Man i am pissed now! Think i am going to go have a few and kick a tree or something! Sorry, just needed to vent!

Is the throttle cable sticking by any chance. Unlikely l know but sometimes its simple things that cause it. Just a suggestion.

is there any slack in the throttle cable? you may be holding idle up with a misadjusted throttle cable.

as you synced the bike did you adjust the idle down during the process?

Throttle cable has slack. No I did not adjust it down as it would not go down. Would having the idle set to rich on all of these cause this? I had to back the idle mixture screws almost all the way out before I got any hint of orange. I screwed them in till it started missing and set them in the middle....wish I would have never messed with it now.

Don't fret my bike was running great, got my colortune plug and adjusted , thought I'd hook up synch vacuum manifold ,tweaked number 1 and then felt 4 was out and adjusted 2 before I knew it carbs were way out of adjustment . I pulled carbs rebench synched got it close had bike down for 3 weeks as I could only tinker with it 20 to 30 minutes an evening . I got a morgan plus 4 carb tune I was so close from bench synch bike runs good and colortune is good .So if all else fails pull carbs bench synch and try again :D

You might want to color tune again. The flame should be blue when idling and orange flame on rev.

Here is a good example of what it should look like. Jump to 7:35 to see it in action.

I never really got a color change on any of the carbs via the needle.....pretty blue with flash of orange when throttle is bumped. I started over at 2-1/2 out, and just re tuned them by ear tonight and have it running beautiful again. I guess just dont get the colortune...same color flame no matter what the needle was set at. It was interesting watching it fire though....oh well....at least my sync is dead on

Did you check to see if you could lean the carbs out with the idle mixture needle?
Something isn't right with the fueling, but at least it's not so wrong that the mixture goes too lean.

Yes sir, I can kill the cylinder by screwing in too far and speed it up by unscrewing. That is where I screwed up...had them way to far out, couldn't get the idle below 1700-2000. The one good thing with the plug is that I could see when it slowed down and when it stopped firing

I always thought lean idle causes higher revs than rich.
