1980 XJ 650 Maxim, all wiring bone stock other than a fuse box replacement 2 years ago. My turn signals will no longer self cancel. Nothing intermittent, the function just up and quit. I am seeking advice on how to troubleshooting this circuit. The signals operate, they just won't self cancel. I only have the Haynes manual and wiring diagram contained within. Hoping someone has been here/done this already. Thanks in advance for any diagnosis tips.

Unplug, clean connectors, plug back in.
    Start there.
Do the same for the flasher relay and the electrical plugs to the speedometer.

Thanks. I cleaned the connector at the control module (6 pin) and operation restored!
