have any slot for a screwdriver in the pilot jet itself..should I insert screwdriver and tap with hammer to create a slot...or clean them in place? I know this is the most frequently clogged orifice and if I dint get it all blindly it will clog very quickly.

Post a pic. I think you are confusing one part for another.
Which carb are you working on?
    Which bike?
Do you have an existing thread for that bike?
We really prefer that all questions stay in one thread so we can provide proper diagnosis of interrelated systems.

The pilot jet on top...the air pilot jet?
There is nothing to remove after you remove the jet. Any brass tubes inserted into the carbs stay there (with the exception of the emulsion tube) but that’s a main fuel jet thing.
