Hey all, I have a 1982 Yamaha Maxim XJ650. Oil drips from the bottom of what I believe is the generator cover on my bike. I've been looking online for a part that seems to match the area that's dripping oil, and generator covers comes closest to matching it. It also seems to be leaking slowly from the side. I'm wondering:

    1. Would this be a matter of removing the 3 allen screws and replacing what I'm guessing is a gasket inside of it?

    2. If I remove the generator cover, is there anything I should know about before opening it? Never opened one up before.

    Thanks in advance!

There should be no oil in your generator cover, either you got the wrong cover or you have worse problems.
    See k-moes post
