1982 Seca XJ750RJ mph/tach unit

    When I was rebuilding my front brake calipers I had to remove the front tire and the mph/tach unit. The small bolt that holds the cable to the mph/tach unit is partially stripped. Do you think there is enough material to drill out the existing hole and install a helicoil?

    Could you just tap it with the next size screw? Add a little blue lock tight after the new threds are in and you should be good.

    Speedometer drives are pretty cheap on Ebay.
    They also have nothing to do with the tachometer.

    Guys, thanks for the reply. I'll look on ebay. If I do not find anything I'll try going the next size up on machine screw size and bore and tap.
