Wanted Engine guard, bars '80 XJ650

I wanted something like these:



But these don't fit my bike at all. I'm going to have to return them because I already bought them, listed as for a Yamaha XJ650 but if they are I or the hubs can't figure out how on earth they would mount. So they will be returned.

Does anyone have any guards/bars for a 1980 Yamaha XJ650 for sale? I have a Lindby Linbar on my bike now that will be for sale/trade if someone has a set I like and wants my Lindbar lol.

 

How nice of a set do you want? I have two sets for that bike, one is a little beat up.

 

They look like the mount the same way the factory crash guards do. The ears go outboard of the front motor mounts. Those long bolts will replace the factory motor mount bolts.

 

Could you send me pictures of both? Probably the nicer set.

Unless this is wrong those ears just aren't long enough, they're touching hitting my exhaust in the picture above, and won't get any closer to the mounts.

I don't know how well you can tell from the pictures but they just don't quite line up.

 

I'm looking for something a little closer to these, minus the pegs. My bike came with bars like the one you're selling, there's nothing wrong with them just not the style I'm looking for. Thanks though the price is great.

 

Have you tried flipping it so the crossbar is below? I've seen that style of crashbar on an XJ before, but I can't recall if the exhaust needs to come off or not.
Does the crossbar come apart (most slip together in the middle)?

 

We've tried it every which way you could think and some that were obvious wouldn't work but I thought it had to be me for a while.
After watching the old man do the same thing we decided it's not for this bike, just something really close to an XJ650, maybe? An EU spec bike or Seca maybe? I don't know.

I really like this type of guard, too, the one's Len sells.

But I'm still interested in seeing pictures of xyxj650's bars, and any other bars anyone might be willing to part with.
