use the right viscosity oil!

    I drained the oil in my 750 yesterday, for the first time since I got the bike. It was not due for another 1000 miles or so, but I thought, what the heck, why not.

    The oil that was used by the PO was some kind of heavy Rotell type stuff, which came out like syrup! Holy crap, that stuff was thick.

    I re-filled the bike with Castrol 20-50, and took the bike for a ride. I immediately noticed that the bike had a bunch more power, idled better, and seemed happier overall. I also was able to get about 1000 more RPM in 5th gear 8O

    More notably, my gas mileage has increased from ~36mpg to about 42 mpg (she still runs a tad rich). That's a BIG improvement in my book.

    Moral of the story: Use the right oil!!

    well, rotella is 15w40 at the most so I think you may need to correct your statement. May have been straight Lucas.
