Hi i just want to ask if anyone else here tried putting a "1 way valve" in the petcock vacume line? The small rubber hose that connects to the intake manifold in my bike connected to carb #3. my sparks plugs #1 & #2 cylinder is always carbon filled. Float level is set at 3mm below line my valve shims at in specs..

I thought maybe my carbs drinking problem can be cured by starving her of fuel thru the vacume supply line that opens and close the petcock.. so macgyver does it again .. now all 4 plugs are nicely TAN color! Will post pics later.

What do you guys think? Have i done a really stupid thing here?? Will this damage my engine in the long run?? I have only used it for 1 week now maybe 200kms +or-.

after noticing there is a lot less pulsating in the rubber manifold when a check valve is attached i notice fuel supply is considerably lessen leaning the mix. Somehow im not 100% sure this is ok .. what do u think?

Have not heard of anyone doing that or having to add that to their carbs. I have added it to the crankcase breather of my KLR650 and that seemed to make it run better, but nothing to the carb lines...besides a inline fuel filter.

Just to clarify--you have disconnected the vacuum line between the petcock and carbs. All four carbs have the vacuum nipple capped. The vacuum line going to the petcock has been blocked by using a "one way valve" so that you are using your petcock set at "reserve" or "prime". All of your plugs now have a nice tan color.

If your plugs all have a "nice tan" color, then you probably not running too lean. But you need to post pictures of the plugs.
If the vacuum line was attached to the #3 carb, that would not have any effect on the other cylinders as far as the carbon fouling you mentioned. So I don't understand why simply blocking the vacuum line would correct the carbon fouling on # 1 and #2.
I don't know if your wet set is correct since you didn't mention which bike you have.
Do you have any idea how your pilot screws are set? Are you running a stock air box and air filter?
