I had a post ealier about swapping an 18 inch rear wheel for a 16 inch rear wheel... I was wondering if I swapped my gear from my wheel to donor wheel and ran a tall tire (for the old school look) how it would work out.

As long as the new tire is the same height as the old one there will be no problem assuming the gear will go on properly.Rim size is irrelevant. Tire diameter matters. As far as handling goes I have no idea.

I'd like to know what difference it would make to the gearing if you fitted a smaller wheel....

Would it give it more low down (tyre smoking) grunt or higher top speed?
I think it would give it more tyre smoking grunt.. But don't quote me on that ;)

    You've been quoted on that.

And you are correct, smaller diameter wheel/tire = lower gearing = more giddyup and less top end.

I dont have any pics of the exhaust my bike was pretty rough cosmeticly and the crossover was rusty so I pulled the pipes out of the motor and removed the crossover 20 mins later sounded like a sprint car so I left it.

You can swap it without any gear changes. Your engine will only run a little higher RPM but it's not enough to make a difference. You will only notice it with your seat-of-the-pants dyno!! It will have some dirty take off and passing out on the highway is like butter!!
