Hello all! It has been a long time since I have posted anything here (working 50hrs/wk). Anyways; my question is how do I properly adjust my rear brake pedal so it actuates my brake light switch? I had replaced my rear brakes almost a year and a half ago, but I haven't had it inspected since 2017. I recently moved to Pennsylvania and I need to get it inspected to get a new registration. It won't pass without that switch "functioning" properly.
As always any and all help is appreciated. Might even have time to fix my dented gas tank and paint everything, with this corona virus going around.

You don’t adjust the pedal, but you adjust the switch. Follow the brake pedal lever backwards and you will find a little eyelet on the backside of the pivot it attaches to. There should be a spring attached to that eyelet that goes up to a switch. The switch will have a couple nuts on it that allow you to move the switch up and down. Pull down on the spring with the key on to ensure that the switch and bulb are good, then adjust the switch so that the light comes on just as you depress the foot pedal 1/4” or so. Light on too late, move switch up. Light on too early, move switch down.

Thanks Jayrodoh. The brake light and switch to function properly. I adjusted my brake pedal after putting the new shoes on, and adjusted the brake light switch when I installed the shoes already. I will take a picture of the switch tomorrow, as I may not have that adjusted properly.

FYIbrake adjustment I was referring to is pedal height not the brake shoe adjustment.

What do you mean brake pedal height? Is that the adjustment that is on the pedal itself?

Yes, pedal height is adjusted with the adjuster bolt and lock nut on the pedal itself. Do that first, then the free play adjustment at the back, followed by the brake light switch.

For some it it also to feel. As you sit on the bike there should be a good spot or feeling for the peddle as well. As long as you get that good spot on the peddle under your foot as you sit on the bike, that should work too. Then you can adjust the threaded portion for the swx as need to make the brake light turn on when you push the peddle down.

The biggest concern about adjusting the brake pedal it said it's not so high that it's above the footrest you want to be able to get your foot on top of it when needed and not find yourself riding the brake when not needed.
