So hi everyone, long time lurker, new poster. I’ve got an 81 seca 750 that ran when I got it but needed put back together and some wiring done. Somebody butchered the fuse box swap when they did it. A couple relays had been messed with and turn signals broken. So I messed with the wiring some, got the gauge cluster working and then the turn signals flashing. I couldn’t ever seem to get it to charge, I checked everything with the multimeter and swapped in 2 other ref/rec units but decided to focus on that after I had it running better. At this point my parts from Xj4ever came in(great guy btw) and I decided to clean the carbs. And change the throttle shaft seals which I knew needed done. I also purchased an used turn signal canceler unit because mine wasn’t working far as I could tell. Here’s where I messed up, I redid the carbs over the course of a couple days, new jets, needles, seats, seals, and a through cleaning but while that was happening I also tried to change the headlight relay which was not working for another headlight relay the previous owner had included along with the Haynes manual and other parts. I thought everything had checked out with the multimeter But after installing the carbs and trying to start the bike with the ycis eliminator installed, I noticed the headlight relay started smoking. I know I should’ve turned the key on and double checked everything first along with making sure correct fuses were installed but I just started cranking on it and only after the relay started smoking did I react by switching ignition off and unplugging the relay. Now it won’t start. I did ohm the coils and wires and swap the plugs for the nonresistor type as the caps are stock and I even swapped the tci unit. I’ve been keeping the battery charged and using a jump pack on it while cranking. I’m wondering if I’m missing something wiring wise in the cluster or somewhere. I’ve been over the wiring diagrams best I can(mechanical engineering student so not an electronics expert) but I feel like it’s got to be electrical issue as pulling one plug on either coil and grounding it was not resulting in spark.
