And then it just went back in! Put the boot back on tomorrow after I get some longer needle nose pliers. Now for a celebratory rum!

When you pull out the back wheel spindle and spacer the wheel stays put, on my 900 f so l just take it off the hub. The rest stays on the bike.

Last year when I was checking the brakes, I did it right. This is what happens when I rush to do things. Note to self, slow the f*** down!

New throttle shaft seals in, new spark plug caps, followed all the instructions for setting up the carbs, but it won't start. I have taken the carbs out 5 different times checking and rechecking but still nothing. I had it running last year, so I'm not sure what to try next.

Are the jets at the bottom of your float bowls clear? The fuel goes through the jet in the bottom of the bowls and up the brass tube for cold starting.

Everything has soaked in carb cleaner and blown out. Floats are set. Paper clipped the butterflys. Turns over but nothing. Not even a cough.

if that's where you left them, they might be open too wide for starting, back off the idle a bit
    look at the kill switch

Kill switch is in the on position. I'll try backing off idle screw.

That worked. Runs really rough, but does run. Now to figure it out to run smoother.

I felt the headers after running it for a little bit. One was cold.

your bench sync with paper clips is only to get it close, now you need a running sync to smooth it out.
don't worry about the cold header right now, use a running sync to get it a little closer, the missing cold cylinder might just come to life

Reset the float height, and she starts right away. Still a little rough, but she started. Still need to sync, but tomorrow is another day. Still waiting for brakes to show up, but hopefully tomorrow.

So, I started the bike last night and it was really rough. Again I checked the spark, and it looked decent. Took the plugs out, and one looks brand new. Did a compression test, all at 120 cold. Changed the plugs around and still the same plug looks clean. No heat on that exhaust either. Bad plug?

Did you do the running sync yet?

Not yet. Don't think it would make any sense to sync 3 of 4.

Do you have a spark tester to check the lead to the cold plug? Or ground it to the engine and turn it over, make sure it’s sparking.

But like Polock said, do the running sync as well

I did a spark test off the engine, and there is spark on all four. I'll try to sync this weekend.
