    Electrical gurus...

    I replaced all four turn signals with aftermarket units holding 5W incandescents on my '82 XJ550R Seca. Needless to say, they would light, but not flash because there wasn't enough load.

    So I ordered an electronic relay (ELFR-1)... http://customled.com/PRODUCTS/FLASHER_R ... _relay.htm

    This relay has two wires, where the stock relay has three. Here is how I hooked it up:

    New Relay --> Bike Harness
    Red --> Brown
    Black --> Brown/White
    --> Yellow/Green (not hooked to anything)

    The flashers now work, but if I go back and forth between left and right without cancelling first, I blow the 10A fuse.

    According to my schematic, the harness brown is power and the brown/white runs to the turn signal switch.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Sorry Taint, I get access on rare occasions now that I'm off-line at home.
    It sounds like your turnsignal switch is loopy. Pull it apart and clean it up. Just a start and first thought on top of my mind. I hope you find it.

    Thanks Robert.

    I had already cleaned it previously before putting in the new signals. I'll open it up again and see what's doing. It could be possible that I shorted something in there.

    My signals come on but dont flash ? I believe they are stock ... but have been replaced ..hence the electrical tape . Could it be a fuse ? or relay ?

    I suggest getting the 3-prong flasher instead.

    Mine cost all of 10 dollars at canadian tire (the round relay with the smokey clear plastic)... It's the cheaper of the 2 three-prong flashers they have (the more expensive one didn't work). It's called a "loud flasher" but I can't hear it when the bike is running. 8)

    The flasher required a little guess and check to get the wires switched around in the stock harness, and when it was hooked up improperly it would blow the fuse.
