Installing new chain and sprockets and getting everything back together I noticed the front sprocket had a bit of a wiggle and wobble to it. Looking closely, there's bit of clearance between the ridges on the output shaft and the grooves of the sprocket in which it sits. Video here:

The old and new sprocket seem to both have the same amount of play. I put a new holder plate on as well (tabs on the older plate were indented pretty bad from the ridges on the shaft) and that didn't eliminate the wiggling either. Question is: is this amount of play normal? Or have the ridges on the output shaft just worn down from wear and tear. It's an 82 550 Seca with about 27k on it.

    Thanks!

Once you put the plate on and fit and torque the bolts it should be fine.

Thanks guys. Figured it'd be fine but the only other bike I've owned was a shaft drive so the chain is all new for me.
