Decided to bleed up my rear caliper and bought some new crush washers. Used the correct torque and tightened it down. However when it comes to bleeding the system it leaks from around the banjo hose area. On taking it off noticed theres a notch cut into the banjo were the leaks coming from, does the notch have to sit a certain way on the caliper to stop the leak.

That is interesting, you a "notch cut into the banjo" not broken off part? If there is a cut than it would make sense that it fits into something. Do you have the old crush washers that should be copper and flat? Does the caliper side have a notch on it? Interesting pic you sent us.

I don't have a clue how that will ever work with that notch in there. Did this work previously or are you rehabbing a bike that was not in service? I have never seen a notch in a banjo connection on any bike.

That looks like a gouge from a lock washer.
Use a flat file to even the surface out. If the gouge is too deep you will need to replace the banjo fitting.

Check the date codes on the front lines. They might need to be replaced too.
