I have just wired up my alarm on my 750 Seca. It has a remote start option, and I have taken it one step further and wired a relay in to allow keyless operation (I am lazy at times). Only problem I have discovered is that you can pull the main fuse out with engine running and it keeps running off the generator. I can see this being a big problem as it that fuse blows, the bike stays running and everything works fine off the generator. Is this a fault with the RJ, or do I have a rather strange bike.

    Cheers.

That sounds seriously wrong to me -- I'm sure others will correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that EVERYTHING is supposed to run through the main fuse -- ie NOTHING should work if you pull it.

Sounds like time to go checking the wiring I'm afraid to see where the current is coming from....

It's from the generator, battery is totally disconnected when fuse is pulled or that relay cuts out. Looking at wiring diagram, it will do that, and my MZ does it aswell.

Review of the electrical diagram says the main fuse only protects from drawing too much current from the battery.

Since it's a 30 amp fuse and the alternator only puts out 19 amps max no need to protect the circuit from the alternator current.

More interesting is that with a good fuse and the alternator churning out a full 19 amps you have the potential for 49 amp in that circuit.

Sounds normal to me. If you have wired it for starting without the key in then you are providing power to bypass the ignition switch.

Depending on where you have tapped into the wiring to provide power will determine how it works.

Ie: if you have connected before the fusebox then it will keep running off alternator power regardless of whether the fuse is in or not.

The wire that activates the relay should be spliced in after the fusebox.

Be careful with what your doing. Wire it wrong and you may find you can't shut it off with the key or kill switch if it is getting constant power.

Looking at the wiring diagram the main fuse only disconnects the battery. The alternator hooks in upstream, so should run just fine with fuse pulled.

Probably give the voltage regulator fits though. I wouldn't intentionally run it that way.
