lead additive

    i once read you should use a lead additive in your fuel, i have an 81 xj650,is there any truth to this ?

    An 81 shouldn't need leaded fuel. By that time all motors were running heads made for unleaded.
    Now, if you were talking about a mid 60s, that would be another story.

    Japs were way ahead of the rest. Bikes were designed for unleaded way before anybody else, so lead additives would be detrimental to the running of your bike.

    Most any motor with Hardened Valve seats is Not needing Leaded fuel.
    That means most Any engine with an Aluminum Head casting.
