I have just found out that a Yam SR125 SE front brake cable is a perfect fit for my XJ750 Seca. It slightly longer than origional, but fits fine and seems to operate the clutch properly, will test it tomorrow and let yas know :D .

I think it was about 2 inches or so, could have been a bit more. I'll measure it tomorrow after workies.

I used a dirt bike clutch cable on mine too when I changed to higher bars. I ended up at the Dennis Kirk store to see what would fit and work for me. They have the lengths of all the cables at the store (not on the website however) and all he had to do is find me the length I needed and the end that was similar to the stock cable. I think the one I have is for a 175 Yamaha dirt bike. It it plenty long. I ended up going back for a longer front brake cable and ened up with one that worked perfect.

2 inches would have probably been enough for me, I was able to use the stock cable by re-routing it, it just didn't look right. Next we need to find a front brake cable!

The problem with the Seca is that the front brake cable is less then 2 feet long. The Seca has a goofy system where the lever pulls a cable which goes to the master cylinder behind the headlight, and then it is hydraulic from there. When I bought taller bars for my bike I had a shop make a cable for me, it only lasted 2 years. I then rode with a homemade cable for the next 2 years before switching back to stock bars. I don't like messing with homemade stuff when it comes to something as important as brakes!

I'm planning on getting this Suzuki cylinder i have mounted on the bars and having the normal arrangement, much easier to work on and more reliable.
