The other day on my xj1100 all of the sudden every warning light came on, except the red one, none of the 2 buttons do anything, I figured my cluster went bad or something, I got a new cluster and wired it up and am having the same issue, except with the new one the red light is on as-well. not sure what the problem is. One day it worked and the next it just stopped cycling and I am at a loss to find related posts about it that their solution worked for me. None of the wires were rearranged when it happened and I just went and double checked none of them were mixed up.

The CMS systems power up in a standby mode and are then enabled when the bike is started and 12V appears on the white wire that originates at the AC Generator and terminates at the CMS.

I would suspect either your charging system stopped functioning or an open has occurred from the white wire to the CMS assembly.

That would explain why my bike has been needing to be jumped recently. I don't know where the charging system or cms assembly is. I haven't been able to find anything online about the cms so I am not really sure what that looks like.

Never mind on the cms. I'll have to look for that white wire. Just purchased a multimeter to test it, and my generator.

Which connector is said wire at on the cms side? There seems to be a few white wires.

The year and model of the bike might be helpful

Check the voltage at the battery after you start the bike. The voltage should be 14.5 +/- .3 VDC when the bike is revved to 2000 rpm and above. If you fail this test you likely don't need to chase the wiring to the CMS as the CMS is not going to become active if the charging system is not working.

CMS - Computer Monitoring System - located inside the instrument cluster

There should be a 9 pin connector that connects to the Instrument Cluster that contains the white wire

Just tested the voltage of the battery, 12.5 when bike is off and 12.2 when bike is running. There's my problem. I just have to figure out how to fix it.

It seems something caused this connector to melt. I'll try to dissect it and then manually connect the wires to each other.

FIXED! after cutting the melted connector off and wiring each wire to the next with wire nuts the battery now reports 14.5v when bike is running and gauges cycle.

Mostly for trouble shooting. Since it works it'll get a more permanent solution soon.
