I put on some new clubmans, and it seems the positioning of the throttle is different...

It idles at like 5k...and when I move the throttle cable by hand, it will either raise or lower the revs....

When I slide the right grip all the way down to the end of the bar, it idles at like 1200... When I try to push it back up to where the grip should be, it revs harder as I push it up further. It seems that the new positioning of the grip is putting a strange tension on the throttle....

    Any ideas for remedy??

You have a cable routing problem. As you push the throttle grip onto the bar the cable is bending tighter. It's sheath is pulling up at one end or the other.

    Sounds about right.

What would you recommend I do?

I'd say the logical thing to do would be to take the throttle cable off and re-route the cable.

    Sound reasoning?

Might just try pushing some of the slack back toward under tank after you mount the control.

I found a solution. I figured I'd post up this information in case other people also had problems.

I fiddled with it as you suggested and tucking the slack back didn't really help. I took the grip apart to find out that the cable wasn't long enough, so it was pulling the cable slightly. I screwed in the little metal adjustment pipe under the grip and it extended the cable a bit, works great now.
