I have a 82 xj750 I had problems with the spark plugs working before I bought a new ignition box from the guy in Iceland , I put in new pickups that I got from a guy from this website put a new coils. And at that point all four spark plugs were getting good strong spark I took the carburetors off and sent them to carburetor Dave in New York I got them back a couple months later put them on and now the spark plugs don't fire .when I started this somebody had put a how to troubleshoot the ignition post I can't remember who it was and I can't seem to find it if anybody can help me locate that post I would certainly appreciate it thank you very much

Have you verified that you do not have spark? If not, the most reliable way to check for spark is with a strobe timing light, as it will only flash if you have a spark going across the spark plug under compression.

However, if you do know that you are lacking a spark, I would start by checking that you have at least 12v reaching the ignition coils with the ignition on.

I know I don't have any spark but I'm going to go check the 12 volts of the coils right now thanks for the motivation

Also I'm somewhat curious why you put the timing light or the spark plug I'm not too sure which you're talking about won't spark unless it's under compression

You can get a spark in free air when testing with a spark plug, but if the spark is weak, it usually will not be able to jump across the spark plug gap under compression. A strobe light will verify this.
